ALROSA with its 30% market share, is the world leader in diamond mining. In 2013, the total rough diamond production by ALROSA Group amounted to approximately 37 million carats, with the potential production growth to over 41 million carats.

ALROSA is a group of enterprises engaged in diamond mining and sales, as welOJl as supplementary and auxiliary production. It is an economic and social conglomerate that employs about 40,000 people.

In Russia the Company mines 9 primary and 13 alluvial deposits located in Western Yakutia and the Arkhangelsk region. The world’s largest rough diamond reserves that are sufficient to continue diamond mining for at least 30 years ahead are located here.

At its production facilities ALROSA employs the most advanced achievements of international science and state-of-the art technology and relies on its own unique technological experience of mining in the harsh climate of the Russian Arctic Region. The heart of the diamond industry is an open pit or an underground mine. These high-tech enterprises launch the journey of precious crystals through the diamond pipeline to millions and millions of diamond jewelry consumers.

Over 90% of ALROSA’s total rough diamond production in terms of value are gem quality diamonds. ALROSA sells independently all its diamond production and supplies rough diamonds to customers both in Russia and worldwide.

ALROSA’s sales policy is based on establishing long-term contract relationships with large companies that have their own cutting and jewelry manufacturing facilities, good financial standing and reliable business reputation. Two or three-year supply agreements ensure stable supply of rough diamonds and protect the company and its customers from price volatility on the global diamond market.

ALROSA also sells its rough diamonds through tenders, auctions and spot transactions. The Company’s sales exceed USD 4.5 billion annually. The Company ensures equal conditions of access to rough diamonds for all the customers and applies uniform auction/tender procedures.
