Franziska Lieselotte Ohnsorge

Franziska Ohnsorge is Manager of the Development Prospects Group in the Development Economics vice presidency. The group prepares the World Bank’s semi-annual corporate flagship Global Economic Prospect report, which presents the World Bank’s view of the global economy, the World Bank’s Commodity Markets Outlook, which has monitored and discussed prospects for global commodity markets since the 1970s.
Prior to joining the World Bank, Ms. Ohnsorge worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), covering a range of Asian, European and Central Asian economies in a variety of capacities. She was also Senior Economist in the Office of the Chief Economist of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), monitoring regional macroeconomic developments and financial sector policy issues.
She has published on a variety of topics in policy and academic outlets. Her work includes articles published in the Journal of Political Economy and the IMF Economic Review. She has written articles for a number of policy-oriented outlets, including the World Bank’s Global Economic Prospects report, the World Bank’s Commodity Markets Outlook, the IMF’s Finance & Development, and VoxEU. Her work has been featured in news outlets such as the Financial Times, the Economist, and the Wall Street Journal. She regularly interviews on broadcast media. Ms. Ohnsorge holds a Ph.D. from the University of Toronto.
